Default Back ups - 19/06/2007, 3:48 PM

Anyone know how long I should have to wait for a back up to be restored?

I raised a support ticket on the 16th June asking if a database could be restored, and assigned it as an emergency as I already know if I assigned a normal status it wouldn't be looked at for weeks. I had a message asking which data base (there was only two) the day after, which I replied to several hours later, since then nothing.

I'm just wondering if I should wait longer, or give up?

Looks like everyone has similar problems with poor support, hardly what I thought I was going to get when I transferred hosts, at least the old host would let me know they wouldn't help and not just keep me hanging on.......

Re-cap, how long should I wait before giving up?

If you have an sql dump of your database you can restore it using the MySQL page in CPanel.

If you don't and are waiting on a central backup restore from XILO then you shouldn't expect a hight priority; users are responsible for taking and restoring their own backups and this is clearly stated in various terms of service.

The centralised, weekly backups are designed to be used only where a server has failed and the whole thing needs to be restored and as such taking individual items from here to be restored takes work and has a very low priority.

Hi,

Just to clarify our policy on backups. We will provide customers a restore of certain files on request if possible. We do backup each and every server, however, these are for our usage only and are provided on an as-is basis.

As per our ToS - all customers are responsible for their own backups.

I'm sorry that you are not happy with the time it took to restore your files, however, our support desk has been busier than normal.

Thank you

Matt
