Default Vat? - 21/11/2006, 8:33 PM

I've just paid up for a further year's reselling, but notice that the invoice makes no mention of VAT. Are you guys not registered?

As far as I know VAT is included in the price of all packages.

I was under the impression that VAT is not charged.

I have never seen a VAT registration number for XILO or any reference to VAT on the invoices.

Regards,
Ian

I agree with Ian and too be honest am somewhat surprised as I would thought Xilo would have been over the threshold.

Maybe if Tom or Matt could clarify?

Cheers
Paul

Hi All,

Currently not - however, this is due to change shortly but notice will be given and packages will be adjusted to compensate for the slight increase.

Hope this clarifies the matter.

Unfortunately - it's compulsory as you may know and bandwidth/disk and a few others bits will be added/increased to compensate.

According to this page on HMRC your revenue from taxable goods and services in any given year has to be equal to or above, or expected to be equal to or above £61,000 before you have to register for VAT.

If Xilo are over this threshold or believe they will be then they are obligated to register for VAT.

Even if they are not I'm sure many of you will appreciate that it is up to every business if they choose to charge VAT when under the threshold, and that it can have benefits for the business if they frequently make purchases of VAT taxable goods and services themselves for example as the VAT paid on those can be claimed back.

With respect to pricing though I think it would help people a lot if an official announcement was made on the changes to prices, the % increase on the cost of packages and the amounts of disk/bandwidth that can be expected to be added on to packages as a compensatory measure.

Not quite true there and worth pointing out. To charge VAT you must be VAT registered. If you are not VAT registered and charge it, you best watch out as you'll be in for a big fine
