Question .uk.com domains - 01/11/2005, 12:25 PM

Hello

I've never had a .uk.com domain before so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they function pretty much like an ordinary .com when it comes to transfers - is it just a case of changing the nameservers or are they more like a .co.uk where you have to change the Tag?

Thanks.

Hi Lois,

We have been checking into this. Whilst uk.coms don't use the tagging system as they are not part of the .UK namespace run by Nominet, they appear only to have a very very simple transfer requirement.

You simply need to update the details on their website at www.centralnic.com for the changes to be visable and live.

.uk.com is really the domain "uk.com" which is under the .com TLD. These domains were added to allow for more specific country registrations to be made.

However, for a glorified subdomain - the are abit pricey, ranging from around £35 in some places to a whopping £99 elsewhere.

We also do sell these domains

Thanks Tom, I figured it out, you do indeed just change the nameservers like a normal .com. I agree, they're way overpriced, but I've noticed them becoming more popular recently.
