Default Forbidden - 15/09/2005, 11:22 PM

Hi, I've been sat here setting up our website since i got the details earlier, and im nearly done. But i keep getting a Forbidden page everytime i try to view the site on the IP I have assigned to it. I have not altered my nameservers to this server yet as a forbidden page is not what our members would expect. Im wondering if there is maybe a security feature interfering with it i have not noticed, Any Ideas?
The IP i have assigned it is: 72.21.47.59

Adam,

It looks like a permissions error or something on that directory.

Can you paste the permissions on the www directory for that user?

The CHMOD for the www directory is 0777, that was the thing i thought of first. Then i went through the control panel to see if i could find something but to no avail. Im stuck on this one .

Also when i try http://IP-Address/~AccountName/ +directories.

I get exactly the same error. It doesnt want to show anything from the accont.

Ok, seeing as it seems that none of us have a clue what the problem is im going to remove the account and start all over again. I will post back here to let you know how it goes many hours from now.

On my dedicated using cpanel/rhes3 the public_html dir is set to 750

User: (the ID number for that user)

Group: 99

www folder is set to 777

User: (the user ID number for that user)

Group: account name

Just a thought, if you are using a script (like phpnuke etc.,) when you set the path in the config script, did you set it as
Quote:
/home/USERNAME/public_html/
or
Quote:
/home/USERNAME/www/
it should be the public_html one

Oh forgot to mention USERNAME needs to be replaced with the account username

I Have managed to get it all sorted and it is now running perfectly. It seems it just didnt put all the right details to the config files on the first attempt.

Thankyou very much Gareth for your input but im not using a system like phpnuke, i am building one. Except its a virtual petsite and not a clan community type thing. Im about to post on the website showcase forum if you wish to take a look.

Thanks again

Its not bad Tom, nice and quick for our USA members. But the account creation problem doesnt seem to stop there. My main domain is just fine now but when i try to create a subdomain it keeps giving me a "cannot find server" error message. I was doing the subdomain for our test location but have rerouted it to run from

http://Main-Domain.com/Sub-Domain

instead of

http://Sub-Domain.Main-Domain.com

So needless to say we have it all setup, test area too. Thankyou for the support offered whilst trying to get back online as soon as possible.

If I have any issues I cant resolve or get around, which are server based. You will be the first people i let know.

Thanks again

Adam
