Question Problem with fopen() - 21/07/2004, 5:37 PM

Hi

A client if mine has just posted this in my forums
Quote:
I am trying to use one or other of these functions to open a remote URL, and am getting the following error:

"
Warning: fopen(HTTP://api.clickatell.com/{rest of URL}): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in {path and filename of my php page} on line 88
"

The file() function returns the very same error. If I copy the URL straight out of the error message and paste it into a browser it works just fine so I know the URL is valid.

Is there anything in your PHP configuration to prevent the use of fopen and file? I have checked php.ini and the basic support is there, i.e. allow_URL_fopen is set to true, I just wondered if you could shed any more light?
Just woundering whether this could be down to the firewall? Any ideas

Hi Gareth,

We allow remote fopens on httpd (port 80).

As I don't know what they are trying to do - I cannot advise. I can only ask they check their coding as this will most probably be custom.
