| User ![]() Posts: 55 Join Date: Apr 2005 | I have been having ftp issues ever since I moved onto Indigo from Golf. Today takes the biscuit - 15mb of files, it moved 2mb in 1hr 30mins. It isn't my ISP as I doublechecked uploading to other ftp servers and that was speedy quick as I would normally expect. I use Filezilla as the FTP client and it comes up as connection timed out or Error: Disconnected from server after nearly every transfer. Can anyone advise? |

If you are still having issues after trying active, raise a ticket, provide your ftp username, password and server in the ticket and someone will run some tests and get back to you. |

You are on the same ISP as the other user with the problem so that maybe the problem here. I personally dont get any problem and we have many users that upload content every day without problem. I know when I was once on PlusNet, they used packet shaping on ports they did not know (or FTP external to their network). WebDav (WebDisk) uses a port in the 2000 range. It maybe that your ISP is implementing traffic shaping or similar which is causing these problems. Unfortunately, there is little we can do about it and there are some ISPs that filter/shape more than others. Edit: Just found this - Worth a read. Freedom 2 Surf Introduce Traffic Shaping - Broadband Internet - Digital Spy Forums Although it is abit old - I doubt they turned the filtering off (as well as judging by a Google search). I have been busy recently so haven't had chance to do any web updates to my sites. I am planning to do some come autumn (phpBB3 upgrade) so need to fix the issue. Yes I am fairly certain it isn't a FTP issue, or Router/Firewall issue. Hence using webdisk as well to see if it was better or worse. I will raise a ticket with the ISP to see what they have to say about it. |
