Dear Xilo

A user wishes to set up an Ecommerce (using OS Commerce)

I noticed its included as an addon for Cpanel but then has something about not being allowe as an addon (I am confused)

Are they ok to install OS Commerce and if so what extras will they need to have in place (ie will they need their own IP for the site etc etc)

Thanks in advance for any help, they have apparently implemented this a few times before on other servers, but first time on the Xilo Alpha server (and its not something I have every had any dealing with!)


Oh and as secondary question, I seem to recall Alpha had quite a few 'Apps' running on it for Graphical manipulation etc (I think it was either part of the CGI implementation or possibly PHP). Do we have the GD libraries available to use at all (another question from the same client).

As with all other applications one can run on Xilo servers, I'd recommend you install it manually. This makes it easier to upgrade etc. But yes, you can install OSCommerce. If you want to take secure payments as part of your install you will need a dedicated IP address for the site and a security certificate; raise a ticket about these.
