Actually, I've just worked out that the AddDefaultCharset option is working for .html files just not .php file. So it is looking like the whole .htaccess is not being picked up for .php files only.

If you wish to move to CPanel you need to raise a support ticket. A new account will then be setup for you on a CPanel server and you can move your content accross in your own time. When you are ready, flip the DNS settings on your domain(s) and request your old HSphere account be deleted.

As for your problems, I'm not entirely sure why this is happening. If you try to modify php settings in .htaccess (such as register globals) do you end up with a 500 Internal Server Error?

Thanks Kieran, I think I will get on and move over to cpanel since h-sphere does not give the impression of being stable enough. It'll be like the old days at di-soft!

As for the .htaccess, is does not appear to be picking up any php settings for .php files, but at least you can change the content headers with the header function in php, so I have a work around. There are no errors generated it just does not read the settings from .htaccess. Might be something in the php setup with apache but could not get into the control panel to check anything.

Hi guys,

Is there any news on why my H-Sphere control panel isn't working yet? I tried again to create a new email account, but I'm still getting the same error that I posted a screenshot of.

Strangely, it wouldn't allow me to create the mailbox, yet the email address appeared in the list of email accounts, with anti-spam enabled and everything. I just couldn't access the mailbox. It's all a bit wierd...
