Hi,

Psoft are investigating the issue but they did not warn us before making any changes.

We're awaiting a reply from them and will update accordingly.

Thanks for keeping the thread up to date. I've been having intermittent trouble with my accounts as well, and just tried to check my emails but my login rejected me.

I'll keep checking back every so often so see if something changes.

Hi,

Emails are located on a different server and are not affected by the problems on the golf server.

If you are having a mail issue - please raise a ticket.

We've not had such an unstable time for many many months so when it happens it is more noticeable.

One of the problems with the H-Sphere system is alot of the software is custom and non-standard. So when something like this does break, we rely on Psoft who are not the best at fixing things or finding the cause.

We stopped placing accounts on H-Sphere months back and simply only offer cPanel accounts now. We're offering a free migration to any H-Sphere customer to a cPanel based account.

The new account would be free until you're able to move your sites over.

cPanel is far superior to H-Sphere and also the packages have far generous allowances.

Please raise a ticket to arrange a new account with us. (we'll be contacting every account over the next few months as we'll be slowly winding down H-Sphere simply due to the problems today as it has once again proven to be a system that we cannot rely on).

Hi Matt. Thanks for the update. Xilo certainly has been very stable and fast for the past year we've (MissVXR is the site owner) been hosted with you. I'm a software developer myself so I know what a pain computers and software can be!!!

As regards the move to the cpanel accounts, upon raising a ticket how long will it take to be moved? I just need to close our forum and take a backup before the move so just need to sort timings out. If it's within a day then I'll raise a ticket as soon as I've managed to do a backup.

Thanks.

Once your CPanel account was setup, it wouldn't take long for you to restore your content. A home directory backup and a SQL dump of all your databases is the norm for doing things like this and restoring them takes a few minutes with a fast connection.

The thing that takes the longest is DNS propogation as you point your domain at the new server, rather than the moving of files and databases.

Thanks for that Kieran. I know about the backup of files and databases but completely forgot about the DNS propagation! DOH!

I've completed the backup of our site now so we're ready for the move. I've updated the support ticket to reflect this so if it could be sorted ASAP that would be great as our site is currently closed!

Thanks.
