Buying more than one domain

I have recently had the "pleasure" to go through the five step ordering process three times to buy some domains, is there not a way to have a shopping cart so i can buy what i want and make one payment?

No; the one domain at a time system is a limitation of the software used to place orders and bill clients.

However, this will change soon when we adopt a 'shopping basket' ordering system.
