Domain Name Renewal

Hi there,

I was just wondering, is it possible to renew all of my domain names at the same time?

At the moment, I have four domains, but they were all purchased separately, and so they all expire on different dates. Is it possible to change things so that I can pay for the renewal of all four domain names on the same day?

Also, how long can I renew the domain names for? I know the minimum is two years, but is there an upper limit as well?

Depends who your registrar is, but you should be able to set each domain to auto-renew, give the site your card details and sit back and let it do all the work.

Well I bought all of the domains with Xilo. I just wanted to make my life a little easier, but if I can set them to auto-renew, then that's fine too.

I take it I can set the auto-renew stuff in my control panel somewhere?

You should be able to, yes, although I can't say I'm familiar with the domain name system used at Xilo. These kinds of things are usually default set to on to be honest.

Hi Dom,

To answer your questions..

We are not able to invoice for all your domains on the same date if they were registered on different dates - sorry. Our system will give advance notice (at least 37 days) for a domain renewal.

All domains will renew when the invoice that refers to their renewal is paid. If a manual paypal/card payment is made before the due/renewal date - the domain is renewed immediately. However, if you have a card on file and your billing mode is set to card we will attempt to take payment on the due/renewal date. If that is accepted - domain renewed, however, if it declines or gives an error - the domain will not be renewed and a failed payment email will be sent.

After this time - you have 30 days to renew the domain before it enters the redemption period (160$ + renewal fee) to reactivate the domain.

Hi Matt,

Can you confirm something for me and possibly other users.

If you send a domain renewal out 30 odd days before it expires and say your inv is paid on the day it is issued does the renewal move forward by 30 odd days or does it stay as the original.

What I mean is by paying your inv 30 days early do we lose 30 days of the existing registration

OK that sounds cool. I've got a card with you on file, as it automatically takes the monthly payment from me each month. Does this mean that on the due renewal date of my domain names, that you will automatically take payment for the that too?

If not, I'd like it to be that way.
