Default can we get tomcat/glassfish on indigo? - 22/01/2008, 4:33 AM

Hello everybody!
I've noticed that there is no JavaJRE/tomcat installed on indigo...
On a simple web hosting package, would it be possible to run a tomcat/ glassfish application server?
I have a number of servlets I really want to host, will it be possible to do without having to upgrade package?
Even if it was running on port 8080 I'd be happy with that

Thanks!
Ant

These servers have predefined configurations for increased security and are rarely altered to ensure stability and consistency. It is unlikely therefore that that alterations you are asking for can be granted. If you wish to do such things you might like to look into getting a VPS or a dedicated server

Will there be plans to have it in the future? I really like xilo, think you guys have the right attitude, but I dont require colo/vps/dedi, just tomcat! To that effect I want to stay with xilo, I've got loyalty to this brand.

Is it possible to find out what Xilos plans are for the future as a whole, like hardware/software wise?
Thanks
Ant

Hi,

It maybe something we consider in the future. We are looking at offering an Extreme hosting package with RoR, PHP5, MySQL5 and Tomcat with Apache2.

It's very much in the planning stage and on our list of to-dos.

Not able to give a date yet however... Sorry.

Matt
