Default Best CMS package - 18/12/2006, 4:12 PM

Afternoon all,

Having not used it yet, I have a customer who has asked my opinion on the best cms package.

I've looked at Joomla, does anyone have any ideas on what is best. I don't know what he plans to do, but is a non techie so user friendly is high on the agenda

Any info, good or bad would be appreciated.

Cheers

Joomla is good - takes a little to get your head around it.

Subdreamer is abit basic compared but is also nice.

If he plans to use a forum he could do a lot worse than my portal and cms system for phpbb

Failing that as Matt has already said Joomla is a good way to go.

Thanks to you both for the advice. I'll steer him down the Joomla option and can always assist.

I don't think it's a forum he wants Kieran but if he does, I'll be sure to be in touch with you!!

Cheers
Paul

We have tended to use Mambo/Joomla but it depends on how much time you want to put into developing.

TYPO3 is very comprehensive, but expect to spend a couple of weeks learning how to use it first.

Regards,
Ian

Many thanks to you all for your input. I'll review the other options and then work out the best way forward

Etomite might do the job if you are looking to build something into a complete CMS package. Does take a lot of work but can do the fundamental CMS tasks pretty solid.

I suggest giving it a try to see if you like it
