Default Magento eCommerce - 2/12/2007, 11:29 AM

Hi,

Has anyone managed to get Magento eCommerce running on a shared hosting package? Would be very interested to hear how you did.

Tom

Looking at the system requirements it seems to need php5.

If you are on an H-Sphere shared hosting package then that will be the reason you can't get it working - those packages only have php4 at present.

I have put a php5 binary in my cgi-bin folder, see...

In that case I assume you have checked that by uploading and viewing a php file with the following in it shows php5 as being in use?

Code:
echo phpinfo();

Its probably a paths issue. Can you dump your .htaccess in this thread using code tags? I will probably be able to see whats wrong.

Have tried the full qualified path
<code>
Action php5-cgi /hsphere/local/home/AAAA/AAAA.co.uk/cgi-bin/php5-cgi
AddHandler php5-cgi .php
</code>

and also

<code>
Action php5-cgi /cgi-bin/php5-cgi
AddHandler php5-cgi .php
</code>

muppet - just spotted my mistake after posting that. It should be...
<code>
Action php5-cgi /hsphere/local/home/AAAA/cgi-bin/php5-cgi
AddHandler php5-cgi .php
</code>

Unfortunately that didn't help either!

Code:
Action php5-cgi /cgi-bin/php5-cgi
AddHandler php5-cgi .php
Should be sufficient.

If that still doesn't work, check the permissions on the php5-cgi binary - it should be 755, as should the cgi-bin directory its self.
