Smile Great sevice so far guys - 24/07/2006, 10:36 PM

Hi guys and all who read this, I'm not the type who usually posts in forums re service, however having dealt with Xilo for only a week, I feel the need to post.

I recently had a some bad experiences with another provider, I'll quote the names Matt or Tom can decide if they want to edit them or not, the service I had was through valueweb or commanly known as affinity web.

I rented a dedicated server from them and set about putting my dream site into action, this was the cumulation of some previous 6 months work and it was not a small site, the site was around 40gb in size, we incorporated coppermine to a large image database on mysql, with paypal payment system incorporated, ( this will give you some idea of the task that was under taken, we hosted around 150,000 images, which were all indexed and had script addition.

Ok enough about the site, all was well for around 4 weeks, we were carrying out our weekly updates, or trying to and could not log onto the server, this was not uncommon however, in the previous 4 weeks the site had been off line around 5 times, all of which we had to inform affinity about they then re booted the server and it was back on line within the hour, this time however the hard drive had packed in and we lost the lot ....

Ok we had a back up on a home pc and started the task of a rebuild which took a week, with no appology from affinity, I decided to take out a back up service from a storage centre, just in case....6 weeks later a motherboard failure was reported on the server..ohhh well all's not lost I hear you say, well it would'nt have been if they had'nt replaced the hard drive because the data had been corrupted ?? all lost yet again, at least this time we had a back up on a 100mb connection...yeat again no appology...

Sorry guys going off the subject, just needed to vent, what a surpise tonight, our server did'nt come back up after a reboot, was going to request a reboot, however before I could, I was informed by Matt the server was offline, Im talking 30 - 90 seconds, what a breath of fresh air this is.... sorry all I know I went on a bit, this is hosting at it's best the way it should be, guys who care about customers, I've had some dealings with Tom and Matt and all I can say guys is keep it up your doing a great job * ( I'll send my bank account details later guys for your donation for marketing your service ) keep it up well done...

Dajster
