I believe it would be useful to allow resellers to have automatic registration to "Reseller Chat" using the reseller's username and a auto generated password. This would increase the likelihood of finding an answer to technical or other questions raised by resellers when the tickets aren't answered in a timely manner.

Welcome to the forum

You will be added to the reseller forum in due time by forum admin (either Matt or Tom). This doesn't take very long and doesn't mean you are served any less well support wise while you wait for your access - the reseller forum isn't mainly for support but chat between forum members about reseller specific stuff. If you have a support issue you want to ask about feel free to use the dedicated support forum.

Given what knows if you are a reseller or not (the billing system) and what gives forum permissions (vbulletin software) what you propose is actually not quite as straight forward as getting the two systems to talk to each other requires plugins to be written for both systems. Its far easier just to offer access to any reseller who asks for it.

Thanks for the response Kieran

How about placing the reseller forum on a password protected directory !. Forum admin could then set up a user name and password for each new reseller. This would negate the need for additional (communication)software.

The time spent by forum admin to set up a user name and password would surely be a good investment, particularly if the reseller forum held the answers to many of the questions raised. This would free up time for the forum admins in responding to tickets and would allow resellers to gain instant access to support.

I know the reseller forum isn't specifically for support chat but that doesn't mean that it should not be used for support.

I welcome your thoughts !

I think its best that you wait until you have got the chance to have a look at whats in there and then decide if its worth changing the way (or speed) access is granted to it
