Backup MX

Do you guys have a backup MX server for dedicated and VPS customers to use in case of server failure? ie. a server that accepts mail and then forward on to the primary MX when its up. If not I'm sure people won't mind paying a few quid for the service.

Certainly possible. We'll have a look at what we can put together as we already have several backup MX servers for other things and adding the domains required to the relay list is not hard at all

OK, cool, no rush.
You can even market it to small businesses that want to use their DSL line as an MX (although every time I have seen businesses use their DSL for MX it has been a disaster).

Is there a backup MX server for reseller accounts? I have a client that wants there email sent to there router. Which of course is down today.

Is there anyway we can supply a service that will let them check there email during the main MX server outage, maybe via imap or something? From my knowledge of backup MX servers I guess the answer will be no. But I could be wrong.

Not that can be pointed at a customers own server.

We only, at this time, offer secondary MX for domains hosted on our platform.

If your customer is wanting a backup MX - a cheap VPS would be an ideal solution - we can even offer setup of a qmail server for this purpose for £30.

Re: checking mail when their server is down - thats not possible on a single machine setup - you would need a mail cluster with no SPOF to be able to do that.
